Why Resculpt?

Why did I name my business ReSculpt?

My prior business name was The Pink Caterpillar. I taught fused glass classes and made flower bead jewelry for over 10 years until my art studio was built.  Once I moved business into my new building I was really feeling like a name change was in order.  I wanted my studio to be a place where people felt safe, had fun, and felt like they could come as they are and be themselves completely and feel accepted.  I envisioned it being a place where we all walk in and out as broken people but the time spent together would be refreshing and therapeutic.  So I started thinking of sculpting and how we are always trying to resculpt ourselves into better people.  The meaning of resculpt is simply “to sculpt again.”  I wanted both the sculpting and the resculpting to stand out because that’s what we constantly strive for…to sculpt what we like about ourselves and to resculpt what we don’t.  I started praying about my business name change and God led me to this word…resculpt.  I then had the idea to capitalize both the ‘R’ and the ‘S’ to emphasize both the sculpting and resculpting.  I knew this was the name I needed to use.  After coming up with this name and praying, God led me to the bible verse Ezekiel 31:3.  Below are my favorite translations of this verse.  This verse confirmed for me that I was on the path God had envisioned for my business.

Ezekiel 31:3 – I have filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts. (NLT)

Ezekiel 31:3 – I have filled him with my power.  I have given him understanding, skill, and ability for every kind of artistic work. (GNT)
